Especially the difference between Greek and Cyrillic.

My photomap

It’s not much, but I think it’s worth checking it. Also worth reading: an introductory article to internet mapping. However, GIS software still works these programs for many serious endeavors, such as transportation planning (see below). This is what I do at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, the regional transportation coordinating body for the SF Bay area.

The Incident With The Bird

I’ve heard that parrots are very possessive. As a male, I have to say I don’t like this.

Redrawing

The Daily Render is a blog run by Nikolas Schiller, a friend of my brother from college. Schiller produces hundreds of inventfully reimagined maps. Techniques range from collages, fractals, quilts and impositions of new imagery upon older maps. In this way, I think Schiller touches on the subject of contrapuntal cartography – there are multiple interwoven themes and histories of place and space. There is no one way to look at or describe the world. Great collection of images and commentary; hopefully I can learn some of these techniques and apply them. Until then, you check out my much more mundane maps here.
